From Villa Philomena's elevated position, the front terraces provide stunning views along the picturesque channel between Korcula and the Peninsula, to the windsurfers, kitesurfers and sailboats below.

The terraces are perfect for sun-soaked barbeques and relaxing in the daytime, and moonlit dinner and drinks in the evening.

All four bedrooms have a wonderful uninterrupted view of the sea, with a panoramic view of the scene below stretching for miles...

The villa is very spacious, at 210 square metres, with three bedrooms measuring 5m by 4m, and one measuring 5m by 3.5m.

The back hall measures 2.5m by 7m and leads to an oval-shaped bathroom, and these spaces reach up 4m to the roof eaves.

Notes

There is a property next door which is occasionally occupied by nice English friends of ours.

The concrete track leading to the villa is narrow and is not well suited to large vehicles such as people carriers. Medium-sized or smaller vehicles are recommended.

Villa Philomena is unsuitable for people of very limited mobility due to steps at the front.

Villa Philomena is family-owned and is well managed by a lovely English-speaking lady living nearby. She is on hand to answer any requests during your stay.

Dining area and kitchen

Design

Formerly two properties, Villa Philomena has been fully redesigned internally by one of the family owners, architect Viv Faithfull.

In January 2004, the villa comprised only four stone walls. The design now includes a spectacular three-storey 'void' at the rear of the living room, which reaches up to the eaves on the second floor. This creates a wonderful open feel throughout the villa, and also encourages air circulation.

The architecture and decor successfully blend rustic charm and contemporary design.
